Our history
Since 2016, we’ve been working to help produce clean, sustainable energy.
2016 – 2020 Research phase
Research and development
In the mid-2010s, while reviewing geothermal analyses, Jean-Philippe Gibaud recognized the significant lithium potential they contained.
Since no existing extraction technology could harness this potential, he took the initiative to develop one. A team of researchers was assembled to create a highly effective material capable of selectively extracting lithium from any liquid source. Several generations of this material have been developed, with the goal of achieving industrial maturity within a few years.
2021 – 2022 Development phase
Becoming a global player
From 2021 GEOLITH started the commercialisation of the first generations of Li-Capt®, validating its performance in a broad range of resources, with several pilot and demonstration units at semi-industrial scale.
This field application allows us to optimise the technology and the processes.
2023 – … Industrialisation phase
From challenger to leader
In 2023 we inaugurated our Li-Capt® Column production line. This first production unit enables us to produce 2,000 Li-Capt® Column per year.
We also won a “France 2030” award, which rewards the most innovative companies working on the energy transition!
Our industrial production plant in Haguenau, France, is about to open. It will enable us to produce 36,000 Li-Capt® Column per year and take another step towards becoming the world leader in Direct Lithium Extraction!
2024
Signature of an exclusive alliance with KBR contract and the opening of our entities in North and South America
In 2024 Geolith has entered an exclusive alliance with KBR, a global leader in technology and engineering, to deliver Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) solutions worldwide. Through this alliance, Geolith will leverage KBR’s technical and commercial expertise to scale our sustainable DLE technology to an industrial level, delivering projects that span from raw brine extraction to the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate.
In 2024, we are taking another significant step in our international expansion with the opening of two subsidiaries, one in Chile and one in the USA, led by our two sales representatives based in these regions.
